ISLAMABAD – 11 April 2026: Iranian and US delegations have begun a new round of negotiations in Islamabad, aiming to secure a lasting end to weeks of fighting that have fueled regional instability and driven up global energy prices.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency said the latest round of trilateral talks started shortly before, bringing together representatives from Tehran and Washington alongside Pakistani intermediaries.
The agency said this round is viewed as a potential final opportunity for reaching a deal, describing US demands as “excessive”
Separately, a correspondent for Iran’s Fars News Agency in Islamabad reported that the two sides have exchanged written proposals.
However, the report noted that a serious dispute has emerged over the Strait of Hormuz, which remains a key point of contention in the negotiations.
The disagreement is linked to proposals put forward by the US side, which Iran views as overreaching, according to the report.
