CAIRO – 11 April 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the need for the state to utilize all market and price control mechanisms to prevent price hikes and speculation during a meeting with state officials on Saturday.

The meeting reviewed the food security system, including the production and distribution of strategic commodities to ensure the availability of safe stockpiles for reassuring periods, the Presidency said in a statement.

These efforts contribute to market stability and price balance, particularly in light of ongoing developments in the region that have negatively affected supply chains and financing, the statement added.

During the meeting, El-Sisi underscored the need to work under a unified vision aimed at maximizing the use of available resources, improving the quality of services provided to citizens, enhancing market efficiency, and achieving a balance between production and consumption.

The president also directed stronger efforts to establish partnerships with the private sector and attract foreign investments in the retail sector and the establishment of commercial chains.

El-Sisi further called for expanding agricultural productivity and improving crop quality, while maintaining and strengthening the country’s strategic reserves.

He emphasized the need to continue efforts toward achieving self-sufficiency in agricultural commodities, as well as in livestock, fish, and poultry production.
