CAIRO – 9 April 2026: The Egyptian Armed Forces announced on Thursday the start of joint Egyptian-Pakistani training exercise "Thunder-2.”

The exercises started with the participation of personnel from the Egyptian Paratrooper Forces and Pakistani Special Forces, said the military spokesman, Staff Brigadier General Gharib Abdel Hafez Gharib, in a statement.

The exercise will last for several days at the special forces' combat training ranges in Pakistan, he added, and is scheduled to include a number of joint training activities covering planned topics and objectives related to special forces operations and counterterrorism.

These activities aim to exchange tactical expertise, standardize operational concepts, achieve integration and cohesion, and refine the skills of the participating personnel.

The exercise is part of the Armed Forces' joint training plan with their counterparts from allies and friendly nations to strengthen cooperation in various military fields.
