CAIRO - 8 April 2026: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his appreciation Wednesday for the support provided by several brotherly and friendly nations in the efforts to achieve a ceasefire between U.S. and Iran, and advance the diplomatic process towards a comprehensive solution to the conflict.
Speaking as the Islamabad talks commenced, Sharif stated that his country values the valuable and comprehensive support from China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, noting that this support contributed to creating a conducive environment for peaceful solutions.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, emphasizing that their continued commitment to supporting peace and stability is a cornerstone of efforts to contain the escalation.
The Pakistani Prime Minister pointed out that the positions of these brotherly nations, along with the support of the United States, reflected considerable wisdom and strategic vision in giving peaceful solutions a chance.
He also affirmed his country's appreciation for all international partners who supported Islamabad's efforts to achieve peace.
Sharif concluded his remarks by calling for concerted international efforts to establish lasting peace in the region and globally.
