CAIRO – 7 April 2026: U.S. President Donald Trump warned that a “whole civilization will die tonight” as his final extended deadline for Iran came to an end.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
He added: “Now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight.”
The U.S. President concluded his post saying: “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
On Monday, Axios reported that mediators are making a significant, last-ditch effort to secure a 45-day ceasefire to the Iranian war.
It was noted that negotiations are being conducted through mediators from Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey; however, the chances of reaching an agreement remain slim.
Reports indicate that President Trump’s 10-day deadline for Iran, which was expected to expire on Monday evening, has been extended by an additional 20 hours. The new deadline, Tuesday at 8 p.m., represents the final opportunity for a deal before the U.S. launches a large-scale air campaign against Iran.
President Trump told Axios on Sunday that the U.S. is “in deep negotiations” with Iran and expressed hope that a deal could be reached before Tuesday’s deadline. "There is a good chance, but if they don't make a deal, I am blowing up everything over there," he stated.
While the Trump administration has presented Iran with several proposals, Iranian officials have not yet accepted them. The proposed two-phase plan involves a 45-day ceasefire, during which a permanent end to the war would be negotiated, followed by a second phase consisting of a final agreement to conclude the hostilities.
According to Axios, mediators believe that the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a resolution regarding Iran's highly enriched uranium can only be achieved as part of a final, comprehensive deal.
