CAIRO - 7 April 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and his Moroccan counterpart Aziz Akhannouch witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements in Cairo on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of the first session of the Egyptian-Moroccan Coordination and Follow-up Committee.

 

The high-level meeting, held at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, aimed to deepen ties between the two North African nations across industrial, economic, and social sectors. The session concluded with both leaders signing the minutes of the committee's inaugural meeting.

 

Industrial and investment cooperation

In a move to strengthen economic integration, Industry Minister Khaled Hashem and Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour signed an industrial cooperation protocol. Additionally, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid and Moroccan Delegate Minister Karim Zidane inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance investment relations between Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development.

 

Financial and agricultural frameworks

To facilitate cross-border business, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk and Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah signed an agreement for mutual administrative assistance in customs, alongside a double taxation avoidance treaty. 

 

In the field of food security, Agriculture Minister Alaa El-Din Farouk and Moroccan Minister Ahmed El Bouari signed an MoU to combat desertification.

 

Culture, youth, and diplomacy

Social and cultural exchange was a primary focus, with Youth and Sports Minister Gohar Nabil and Moroccan officials signing separate agreements for youth and sports cooperation. Culture Minister Gihan Zaki also signed an MoU and an executive program for cultural cooperation with Moroccan Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.

 

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita concluded the ceremony by signing several documents covering diplomatic training between the two nations' academies.

 

The signed documents also cover  housing and urban development, electricity and renewable energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, tourism.
