CAIRO - 6 April 2026: Due to possible fluctuations of the weather, Hanan Magdy, Governor of the New Valley, announced a two-day holiday on Wednesday and Thursday for female employees in government agencies who have children under 10 years old, as well as for employees with special needs.
She also decided to reduce working hours for all other employees, with official hours on both days running from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., in an effort to ease the burden on staff.
She urged citizens to exercise caution on the roads and to limit travel as much as possible, wishing safety for all citizens.
This comes in light of warnings issued by the General Authority for Meteorology on expected weather fluctuations and the possibility of rain and strong winds.
Dr. Manar Ghanem, a member of the media center at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, stated that the country is experiencing cool weather in the early morning on Monday, followed by warmer to hot conditions during the day across most regions, with temperatures dropping again at night.
In comments to “This Morning” program on Extra News, she explained that weather conditions are showing improvement and relative stability compared to last week, despite the presence of some minor phenomena that are not expected to significantly impact daily activities. The most notable of these is the possibility of light rainfall along the northern coasts and in parts of the northern Nile Delta, which may occasionally become moderate in limited areas.
She added that some regions may experience active winds, potentially causing limited blowing sand and dust, along with slight fluctuations in temperatures. The expected high in Cairo is around 25°C.
