CAIRO - 4 APRIL 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly began an inspection tour on Saturday of several industrial companies in the investment zone in Benha, Qalyubia governorate, as the Egyptian government pushes to improve the investment climate, remove obstacles facing investors, and strengthen Egypt’s export capacity.

At the start of the tour the prime minister said the state is working to remove barriers facing investors across different sectors and create a more attractive business environment.

He said the government is also moving to deepen industrial localization in partnership with the private sector, while supporting local investment and attracting more Arab and foreign capital as part of a wider plan to position Egypt as a regional industrial hub.

Madbouly said President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi launched the Benha investment zone to support economic and social development, draw foreign investment, encourage local investment, create jobs, and expand food and agricultural industries along with related activities. He said the goal was not only to meet domestic demand, but also to support exports.

He further added that the area had been empty only a few years ago, but had since turned into one of the most important investment zones established by the state to support small and medium-sized enterprises and provide food industries at lower cost.

According to Madbouly, this model helps producers manufacture goods at a reasonable cost, which can in turn help bring prices under control.

He added that the government is looking to expand investment zones across governorates, pointing to the importance of internal trade and the benefits of locating each zone near the sectors it is meant to serve. In the case of Benha, he said the focus on food industries reflects the area’s proximity to agricultural land and strong food production.

Madbouly said the government will continue to offer support to investors in the Benha zone and other investment areas, while working to ease the challenges facing industrial expansion. That, he said, would help support the local market, increase the supply of goods, and contribute to greater price stability.
