CAIRO - 1 April 2026: Citizens have been increasingly asking about the reason for the noticeable rise in temperatures in recent hours, despite the ongoing unstable weather conditions affecting the country.

These conditions include varying intensities of rain in several regions, along with strong winds that sometimes stir up sand and dust.

This stark contrast between the high temperatures and the presence of rain clouds and wind has puzzled many, prompting them to seek a precise explanation for the nature of these weather fluctuations and their development during this period.

Dr. Manar Ghanem, a member of the Media Center at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), attributed this atmospheric contradiction (heat and rain) to the rapid changes typical of this time of year.

She explained that the country is affected by desert air masses that contribute to rising temperatures, coinciding with dense cloud cover and tropical clouds, creating conditions leading to rainfall, along with active winds that stir up sand and dust.

The member of the Media Center at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority added that this interaction between different weather factors is the reason for the appearance of several weather phenomena simultaneously.

Wednesday's Weather Forecast

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority revealed details of the weather conditions, atmospheric phenomena, and expected maximum and minimum temperatures for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, coinciding with the announcement of unstable weather conditions across most of the country.

The Authority explained that there is a chance of moderate rainfall, becoming heavier as the day progresses, and sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of the governorates of Matrouh, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El Sheikh, Dakahlia, Damietta, Port Said, and North Sinai at intervals.

The authority added that there is a chance of light to moderate rain, which may be thundery at times and heavy at times, from evening until Thursday morning in parts of the governorates of Gharbia, Menoufia, Sharqia, Greater Cairo, the Canal cities, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, northern Red Sea Governorate, and South Sinai, at intervals.

It indicated that wind activity is expected, with speeds ranging from 30 to 50 km/h across most areas, which may stir up sand and dust in some regions and reduce horizontal visibility to less than 500 meters in parts of the northwestern coast, northern Upper Egypt, the Western Desert, and New Valley Governorate.

The authority warned that thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong wind activity as a result of air descending from below the thunderstorms, which may lead to a deterioration in horizontal visibility to less than 500 meters in some areas, noting that there is a possibility of lightning strikes and hail in some areas.
