CAIRO – 25 March 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, held two telephone consultations on Wednesday with Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of of Saudi Arabia, and Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain. The calls are part of ongoing coordination regarding rapidly evolving regional developments.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's full solidarity with the two sisterly kingdoms in confronting any aggression or threats affecting the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and all Gulf states.
This stance stems from Egypt's firm position that the security of the Arabian Gulf is an integral part of Egyptian national security. In this regard, Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt's condemnation of the recent attack targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Foreign Minister Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts to halt attacks on Gulf states and prevent the region from sliding into widespread chaos, which would carry unforeseen consequences for regional and international peace and security.
In this context, the Foreign Minister stressed the need for de-escalation, highlighting the importance of bolstered coordination and joint action to contain the current crisis and establish stability.
The two calls also addressed the paramount importance of maintaining freedom of navigation and securing international trade routes. Developments related to Red Sea security were discussed, with Minister Abdelatty emphasizing the importance of strengthening coordination among littoral states to preserve the security and stability of this vital maritime corridor.
Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt's firm position that Red Sea governance arrangements should be limited to littoral states. He rejected any attempts to impose external roles in its management, noting that local oversight contributes to regional stability and the protection of global trade.
