2,400 equipped ambulance vehicles deployed across Egypt amid exceptionally bad weather conditions

CAIRO - 25 March 2026: Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, Dr. Amr Rashid, announced a state of maximum alert for the Authority, deploying 2,400 ambulances equipped as intensive care units to cover all parts of the country.

 

He also announced the deployment of a fleet of 48 four-wheel-drive ambulances to secure desert governorates, including; the Red Sea, Suez, Matrouh, South Sinai, and New Valley governorates, as well as Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Giza, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, and Sohag governorates, to secure the desert hinterland of these governorates.

 

Regarding the Egyptian Ambulance Authority's preparations, Dr. Rashid confirmed that the Authority conducted dozens of joint exercises, "Project Falcon," which involves mobilizing all relevant state agencies through joint drills simulating major crises and disasters across all governorates of the Republic. These exercises included scenarios for responding to flash floods.

 

Dr. Amr Rashid also announced that more than 1,700 ambulance stations and outposts, equipped with radios, are deployed across the country's main roads and highways.

 

These stations are currently operating as monitoring and tracking units for any weather developments over the next 48 hours, ensuring rapid decision-making and intervention in the event of any accident or emergency that threatens public safety.

 

Regarding the safety of residents of Nile islands, Dr. Rashid explained that the authority has deployed 11 launches to secure the islands surrounding the governorates of Giza, Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan.

 

Additionally, ambulances have been stationed at river ambulance docks to facilitate the transfer of patients from the rescue launches to hospitals.

 

 

300 flood channels and low-lying areas in several governorates

 

In the same context, Dr. Amr Rashid announced that the Egyptian Ambulance Authority has identified 300 flood channels and low-lying areas in several governorates. Ambulance deployment has been reinforced in these areas, and communication with the Ministry of Interior has been strengthened and intensified through direct wireless communication devices.

 

These devices allow for direct contact with emergency response centers to request support from Civil Defense teams in the event of imminent danger to citizens, such as: flash floods or building collapses.

 

This is in addition to the joint live drills conducted by Egyptian Ambulance Authority crews and Civil Defense personnel over the past few months, simulating the evacuation and rescue of the injured from life-threatening locations.

 

Concluding the planned operations, Dr. Amr Rashid explained that the Crisis and Major Disaster Management Room, which completed its work securing the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, will be extended to include the 25th and 26th of this month.

 

This extension will be under the leadership of Professor Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and will involve full and real-time coordination with all departments and sectors of the Ministry of Health and Population to ensure the highest levels of care and safety for citizens over the next two days.
