CAIRO - 25 March 2026: Navigation and fishing activities were suspended at the port of Burullus and in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, until weather conditions improve, according to a report by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority.

The suspension comes as a result of a wave of severe weather and increased maritime activity affecting northern Egypt, which is causing disruptions to maritime traffic.

Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, Ibrahim Makki, instructed the heads of city and town councils to immediately address the potential consequences of climate changes affecting the governorate. He emphasized raising the level of preparedness across all governorate departments to confront these changes and take all necessary precautions.

He also stressed the importance of keeping up the maintenance efforts for rainwater drainage and sewage networks, repairing dilapidated streetlights, covering sewage pits, and ensuring the readiness of all vacuum trucks and cleaning equipment in the governorate's cities and towns for removing rainwater from streets.

He also directed them to review the safety of gas lines, and to monitor the central operations room at the governorate headquarters, the branch operation rooms in the cities and towns, and the National Emergency and Public Safety Network control center around the clock.

The Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate also urges citizens to avoid all maritime activities, drive cautiously on highways, avoid using mobile phones while driving, and follow all safety measures, especially on curves, to ensure their safety.
