CAIRO - 20 March 2026: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed ways to strengthen joint action to contain current regional tensions and restore stability during a phone call.
In a Friday statement, presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy said Sisi highlighted Egypt's efforts to stabilize the Middle East, warning that increased instability negatively impacts the livelihoods of the region's peoples and drives up commodity and transport costs.
The president further emphasized Egypt’s support for the stability of Arab states, rejecting any violation of their sovereignty or security. Sharif also briefed the president on the latest developments in South Asia.
Regarding bilateral ties, both leaders expressed appreciation for the tangible progress in Egypt-Pakistan relations. They agreed to further develop cooperation in several sectors, including transport, trade, and investment.
The call began with an exchange of Eid al-Fitr greetings, with both leaders wishing prosperity and blessings for the Egyptian and Pakistani people.
