CAIRO - 20 March 2026: Thousands of worshippers performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer across Egypt on the first day of Eid al-Fitr (Feast of Breaking the fast.)
 
The mosques and their courtyards were filled with worshippers who had arrived since the early hours of dawn to celebrate the Eid rituals

Among the famous mosques that witnessed high flow of worshippers is  the historic Amr Ibn al-Aas Mosque in Cairo. After the prayer is concluded, some mosques throw balloons over the worshippers amidst joy and happiness. 
 
The area surrounding the mosque witnessed the implementation of a well-organized plan to prevent overcrowding and facilitate traffic flow.
 
The mosque administration ensured the allocation of separate entrances and pathways for men and women. This organization contributed to the smooth flow of movement and prevented congestion at the main entrances, allowing worshippers to perform their rituals in complete peace and tranquility.

Also, thousands of worshippers performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Imam Hussein Mosque. Thousands arrived an hour before the prayer time, amidst a spiritual atmosphere.
 
The area surrounding the mosque saw measures in place to ensure that worshippers did not crowd at the entrance gates. The mosque administration designated separate gates for men and women as part of the organizational process for the Eid prayer.
 
 
6,626 prayer ar across governorates
 
The Ministry of Religious Endowments announced the preparation of 6,626 open-air prayer areas across the country for Eid prayers, in addition to major mosques and congregational mosques.

The Ministry emphasized that this expansion reflects the state's commitment to facilitating the Eid celebrations for citizens and providing the best organizational services to enable them to celebrate in a safe and organized environment.
 
 
Guidelines to ensure security and cleanliness of Prayer areas
 
The Ministry of Religious Endowments stressed the importance of adhering to a set of guidelines to ensure the prayers are conducted in the best possible manner, including:
 
- Limiting prayers to those areas approved by the Ministry only.
 
- Prohibiting the use of prayer areas for any activities outside the scope of Eid rituals.
 
- Maintaining the cleanliness of public property and mosques.
 
- Continuous coordination with relevant authorities to regulate entry and exit.
 
- Adjusting the volume of loudspeakers to achieve the desired effect without causing disturbance.
 
- Female preachers supervising women's prayer areas to ensure order and tranquility.
