CAIRO – 18 March 2026: Egypt strongly condemned on Wednesday the targeting of Riyadh with ballistic missiles. The Egyptian government reiterated its full support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of these "unjustified attacks," noting that the Kingdom’s security and stability are directly linked to those of Egypt and the Arab world.
Egypt also strongly condemned the continued targeting of the United Arab Emirates, reaffirming its full solidarity with it.
In an official statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically denounced any threats or attempts to target oil and gas infrastructure in the Gulf, specifically the liquefied natural gas facilities in Ras Laffan, Qatar. Egypt affirmed its unwavering support for Qatar against such "heinous attacks."
The statement further condemned all strikes against civilian infrastructure and energy installations amid the current military escalation. This includes the targeting of the South Pars gas field in Iran—an extension of Qatar’s North Field. Egypt described these actions as blatant violations of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter, all of which prohibit the targeting of civilian and economic assets.
Expressing deep concern, Egypt warned that targeting energy facilities is a dangerous escalation with direct consequences for global energy security. Such actions result in severe negative repercussions for the international economy and regional stability. Additionally, Egypt highlighted the serious environmental risks and the danger posed to civilians by these industrial attacks.
Egypt concluded by reiterating its call for reason and dialogue, urging intensified efforts to contain the current military escalation and end the war to strengthen regional and international security.
