CAIRO – 17 March 2026: King Abdullah II of Jordan and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain have stated that Iranian attacks constitute a violation of state sovereignty and a grave threat to international peace and security.

During a meeting between the two leaders in Manama on Tuesday, they discussed the latest developments in the region. Both monarchs condemned the Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain, and several other Arab states, describing them as violations of state sovereignty and threats to international stability.

The two leaders emphasized the urgent need to intensify international efforts to de-escalate tensions and immediately halt these attacks. Furthermore, they called for an end to any provocations or threats directed toward neighboring countries.

They also stressed the importance of ending threats that disrupt the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz—a vital international waterway for energy transport and trade—noting that such actions violate international law and the Law of the Sea.

Additionally, King Abdullah II warned of the danger of exploiting the ongoing regional conflict as a pretext to restrict the freedom of worshippers accessing the Al-Aqsa Mosque (Haram al-Sharif), or to impose a new reality in the West Bank and Gaza.
