CAIRO - 17 March 2026: Hurghada is one of the world's leading tourist destinations, attracting thousands of tourists annually from various nationalities, particularly Europeans, thanks to its diverse attractions that combine stunning beaches, marine activities, and open-air recreational areas.
An Open-Air Museum on the Tourist Promenade
The tourist promenade stands out as one of the most popular destinations for tourists daily. It houses an open-air museum featuring a distinctive collection of statues and sculptures.
Located near the Hurghada Antiquities Museum, the museum includes several monumental statues created during the 2018 Egypt International Sculpture Symposium, under the auspices of the Red Sea Governorate. It is an open-air museum in miniature format between Hurghada and Safaga.

The Tourist Promenade Statues
The statues were designed by 29 artists from 22 foreign countries, along with eight Egyptian artists, who created diverse works of art crafted from stone, metals, and other materials, lending a unique aesthetic character to the tourist promenade.
In 2025, these statues underwent comprehensive restoration to preserve their splendor and artistic value, allowing them to regain their brilliance and continue attracting visitors.
Tourists are keen to take photos next to these creative works, particularly if the artist comes from the same country as the tourist. This strengthens their connection to the place and encourages them to share the photos on social media, contributing to the indirect promotion of the city.
Global Dimension
The visual artist Mohamed Hamida, organizer of the symposium, confirmed that participants came from several countries, including France, Germany, Italy, England, Japan, Russia, Turkey, Spain, Romania, Albania, and Serbia.
This gave the museum a global dimension and transformed the promenade into an open artistic platform reflecting the convergence of cultures in Hurghada.
Hamida stressed the need for regular maintenance of the sculptures along the tourist village roads to preserve their artistic and touristic value, noting that some of the larger pieces have been neglected in recent years, despite possessing a distinctive aesthetic appeal.
Hurghada is currently experiencing a surge in hotel occupancy rates, coinciding with the influx of tourists from various nationalities during the winter season. This is accompanied by a noticeable increase in marine excursions, particularly island trips, snorkeling, and diving.
