Faisal communal Iftar in the previous years - file
CAIRO - 17 March 2026: Faisal district is witnessing Tuesday the largest communal iftar in Giza Governorate, in a move that reflects the spirit of solidarity and unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
The iftar stretches across 22 streets from the Faculty of Physical Education to 20th Street in Faisal District.
This year, the Faisal Youth Iftar targets to prepare approximately 100,000 meals, with the participation of 10 kitchens distributed throughout the streets to ensure the availability of food for all those fasting in an organized and efficient manner.
Residents were keen to decorate the streets with strings of lights and adorn the facades of houses with artworks celebrating Ramadan and national unity. They also placed welcoming messages for visitors and participants, creating a distinctive festive atmosphere.

Residents confirmed that this year's communal iftar is significantly bigger than last year’s, as it covered more streets and prepared a greater number of meals. ir
They emphasized that the goal is to bring joy to the hearts of those fasting and to strengthen the spirit of community participation.
They noted that the iftar has become an annual tradition that they cherish for the values it represents. They explained that everybody is welcome to participate whether through effort, money, or preparing food.
They added that this iftar represents a genuine opportunity to bring the community together, during Ramadan, and emphasized their ongoing commitment to developing the event one year after the other, aiming to bring joy to as many fasting people as possible and preserve this unique humanitarian tradition.
Matariya annual Iftar
Nearly 90,000 fasting people attended this year’s Matariya iftar, setting a remarkable example of social solidarity and presenting a powerful image of a united and safe Egypt.
Considered one of the largest Ramadan iftar tables, the event relies on the voluntary efforts of local residents, who come together every year to create the longest Ramadan table in Egypt, now for the 12th consecutive year.
Matariya is a historic district located in the Eastern part of Cairo, Egypt.
