TEHRAN – 14 March 2026: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday it had targeted branches of US banks in the Gulf region in retaliation for an alleged attack on two Iranian banks, according to media reports.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported earlier on the day that branches of the US bank Citibank in Dubai and Manama were attacked by drones.
In a statement, the IRGC warned that further strikes could follow if Iranian financial institutions continue to be targeted.
“If the enemy repeats its attacks on our banks, all branches of US banks in the region will become legitimate targets,” it said.
Today’s alleged attacks came after Iran claimed that a building linked to Bank Sepah in Tehran had been struck on Wednesday.
At the time, the IRGC threatened attacks on “economic centers and banks” associated with the US and Israel across the Gulf.
The IRGC has also threatened to target sites belonging to major technology companies in the Gulf, including Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Oracle.
Iran has launched numerous drone and missile attacks on several Arab countries hosting US military bases in the Middle East over the past two weeks, in retaliation for the ongoing US-Israeli strikes.
