CAIRO - 14 March 2026: The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, through the General Authority for Veterinary Services, continues its intensive efforts to implement the national campaign to combat rabies and control the stray dog ​​population in various governorates.
 
These efforts are being undertaken in fruitful cooperation with civil society organizations to ensure the application of scientific and humane strategies that achieve ecological balance, and also guarantee the safety of citizens.

The Authority announced a significant improvement in field performance indicators during the past period, with veterinary teams successfully vaccinating 16,691 dogs against rabies, in addition to performing surgical sterilization on 1,672 other dogs.
 
This aims to sustainably reduce their population growth in accordance with international standards.
 
 
Healthy environment and safe streets
 
The campaign primarily aims to create a healthy and safe environment for everyone by reducing the risk of zoonotic diseases, especially rabies.
 
The Ministry emphasized that relying on scientific methods to control the stray dog ​​population reflects the state's commitment to animal welfare while simultaneously protecting public health.
 
The General Authority for Veterinary Services called on citizens to actively participate in supporting the campaign's objectives, and to report any cases or request technical support through official channels, including the hotline 19561.
