Severe weather disturbances expected Thursday, peaks on Friday
CAIRO - 11 March 2026: Dr. Mohamed Ali Fahim, Head of the Climate Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, announced that the country will experience severe weather disturbances, known as "Spring Winds."
He added that the this wave will start on Thursday, reaching its peak on Friday and Saturday, and is expected to be accompanied by strong, dust-raising winds in addition to rainfall.
Timeline of weather fluctuations
Fahim explained that these weather conditions will gradually begin on Thursday with increased wind activity in Cairo, the North Coast, and the Western Desert, reaching their peak on Friday and Saturday.
He also noted that Saturday will be considered the "most severe," combining strong winds, a significant rise in temperatures, and the possibility of heavy rainfall in some northern areas.
Urgent recommendations for farmers
In light of these conditions, the Climate Information Center issued a set of precautionary measures to protect crops and agricultural facilities. These measures include field crops (wheat, beans, sugarcane).
Fahim advised spraying fruit and vegetable orchards with silicon or calcium to strengthen plant tissues against wind and protect young branches that are susceptible to breakage.
Public safety guidelines
Fahim appealed to citizens, especially travelers and those with allergies and asthma, to exercise extreme caution, wear protective masks, and avoid traveling between governorates during the peak of dust storms.
He also emphasized the need for drivers to drive cautiously due to the expected lack of visibility on desert and open roads.
The head of the Climate Information Center concluded his remarks by emphasizing that this wave is the "strongest" since the beginning of the season, calling on everyone to follow real-time updates of weather maps to ensure full preparedness and minimize potential losses.
