CAIRO - 9 March 2026: As the countdown to Eid al-Fitr (Breaking the Fast Feast) begins, the Egyptian government, supported by the Ministry of Local Development, has adopted the slogan "No compromise on the comfort of citizens," announcing a package of measures to ensure order and spread joy during the feast days.
 
This report outlines 10 governmental preparations to make the Eid holidays a time of joy and safety:
 
1- State of Emergency in 27 Governorates: A state of emergency has been declared in the operations room of the Ministry of Local Development, linking all governorates to a single control network to ensure order and immediate response to any emergency.
 
2- The exceptional closing time for shops and malls will remain at 2:00 AM, while delivery services will be permitted to operate around the clock.
 
3- Food Security and reduced prices: The "Welcome Ramadan" exhibitions will be extended to provide meat and essential goods at reduced prices, to ensure affordable food for citizens.
 
4- Fireworks: Strict directives have been issued to confiscate fireworks that threaten children's safety and cause disturbances, and deterrent penalties will be imposed on violating establishments.
 
5- Protecting green spaces: Any attempts at illegal construction or encroachment on state property during the holiday period will be dealt with immediately and decisively, under the slogan "The State's Eye Never Sleeps."
 
6- Ensuring a Safe experience at amusement parks: Specialized technical committees have been formed to inspect and maintain rides to ensure their structural integrity and prevent accidents.
 
7- Beautification of Parks: Lighting and cleanliness in public parks and the roads leading to them will be improved, and some major parks will be open free of charge or at nominal fees.
 
8- Nile River Safety: Coordination with the Waterways Authority will review the licenses and passenger capacity of Nile boats to ensure the safety of those celebrating on the Nile.
 
9- The government has activated the "Your Voice Matters" initiative via WhatsApp (01200353111) to receive complaints from citizens about prices or service deficiencies.
 
10- Deployed medical emergency teams: Medical and ambulance emergency teams will be stationed near major gathering places (such as Giza, Orman, and the International Gardens) for rapid intervention when needed.
