CAIRO – 8 March 2026: Israel’s military said it carried out strikes on several Iranian oil storage sites used to “operate military infrastructure,” as explosions were reported late Saturday in and around Iran’s capital, Tehran.
Iranian state media said the attacks damaged parts of the fuel supply network, temporarily disrupting fuel distribution in the capital.
“Due to damage to the fuel supply network, distribution has been temporarily interrupted,” Tehran Governor Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian said, according to state-run IRNA news agency.
Motamedian added that authorities were working to resolve the issue and restore normal fuel distribution.
The latest strikes mark an escalation in tensions between the two regional rivals with the US and Israel intensifying coordinated attacks on Iran and with Iran launching retaliatory drone and missile attacks on Israel as well as on Arab neighbors with US military presence.
