CAIRO – 7 March 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, addressing current regional developments.
President El-Sisi stressed the need to halt the current escalation and prioritize peaceful solutions to regional crises in a manner that preserves the stability of nations and safeguards the well-being of their people.
Both leaders stressed their firm rejection of Iranian aggression against Arab states, particularly given those countries’ opposition to war and their ongoing efforts to prevent it.
President Sisi and Abbas also warned of the potential repercussions of war on the region, especially its humanitarian impact on the Gaza Strip, as well as the associated economic consequences.
The two presidents also discussed developments regarding the Palestinian issue. During the talks, the president reviewed Egypt’s efforts, in coordination with mediators and all relevant parties, to ensure the completion of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to the Strip’s residents.
The Palestinian president expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts exerted by Egypt and President El-Sisi personally to promote security and stability in the region, particularly Egypt’s role in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to an independent state. He also reviewed the vision of the Palestinian National Authority for implementing reforms and achieving Palestinian reconciliation.
