20,000 meals to bring thousands together for massive Iftar in Imbaba, Friday

CAIRO – 6 March 2026: Residents of Cairo’s Imbaba neighborhood are finalizing preparations for a massive communal iftar this Friday. Marking a historic first for the area, the event is expected to serve more than 20,000 meals at a single, continuous table.

What began as a modest proposal by local youth quickly evolved into a major community milestone. After the group shared their vision on social media, the idea garnered immediate and widespread support from residents across the district.

As momentum grew, numerous citizens volunteered to help organize the logistics, joined by contributions from several members of parliament. This collective effort helped scale the initiative into a landmark Ramadan celebration.

The iftar table is set to stretch along Al-Etemad Street and its surrounding side streets. Local volunteers are working around the clock to prepare the 20,000 meals, fostering an atmosphere that reflects the holy month’s core values of charity, sharing, and community spirit.
