President Sisi affirms Egypt’s support for Sudan’s stability, territorial integrity

CAIRO – 26 February 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Dr. Kamil Idris, Sudanese Prime Minister on Thursday. The President reaffirmed Egypt’s firm commitment to supporting Sudan’s stability and territorial integrity

 

The meeting was held in the presence of Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, along with delegations from both countries.

 

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that President El-Sisi welcomed the Sudanese Prime Minister, underscoring the depth of the strategic and fraternal ties between Egypt and Sudan. 

 

President also praised the convening of the High Coordination Committee on Water Issues, co-chaired by the two prime ministers, describing it as an important mechanism for aligning positions and safeguarding the interests and rights of the two brotherly peoples.

 

For his part, the Sudanese Prime Minister expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception and for the continued support Egypt provides to Sudan across various sectors.

 

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that the President reaffirmed Egypt’s firm commitment to supporting Sudan’s stability and territorial integrity. He highlighted Egypt’s regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war and alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people.

 

The meeting also included an exchange of views on the latest regional developments, with both sides stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation on issues of mutual concern.

 

Sudanese Prime Minister Kamel Idris arrived in Cairo on Thursday morning for a two-day official visit, according to a statement released by the Sudanese Cabinet.

 

Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilam received Idris and his accompanying high-level delegation upon their arrival, the statement added.

 

Bilateral meetings between the two countries will also be held to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and strengthen relations across various fields, the statement said.
