El-Sisi, China’s GCL discuss renewable energy cooperation, industry localization

CAIRO – 25 February 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday discussed cooperation opportunities with the Chinese energy company GCL in the renewable energy sector, including prospects for localizing renewable energy industry.

El-Sisi made the remarks during a meeting in Cairo with Chairman of the Board of Directors of GCL Zhu Gongshan.

Gongshan praised Egypt’s strategic and attractive location for investment, highlighting the country’s security, stability, and favorable climate for solar energy production.

He also commended the measures Egypt has taken in recent years to encourage and attract foreign investment.
