PM Madbouly launches 'Abwab el-Kheir' charity initiative to support vulnerable families
CAIRO - 24 February 2026: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced the launch of the presidential initiative Abwab el-Kheir "Translates into: Doors of Goodness," emphasizing that the Egyptian state is opening doors of charity to its citizens during the holy month of Ramadan, in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with the aim of strengthening social protection and supporting vulnerable families.
The Abwab el-Kheir initiative includes providing four million hot meals through kitchens affiliated with the Long Live Egypt Fund, in addition to the Fund's participation in the Ministry of Social Solidarity's "Mahrousa" kitchens.
The initiative will also distribute three million food boxes to vulnerable families through ongoing convoys covering all governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
During his speech, the Prime Minister stated that the initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Tahya Misr Fund to provide a broad support umbrella covering all governorates of the Republic. He stressed that it is not just about numbers, but about focused social protection that places the dignity of the citizen as the starting and ending point of every intervention.
The initiative also witnessed the opening of an outlet by the Long Live Egypt Fund, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, to distribute food boxes to support service workers, security personnel, and maintenance staff in the New Administrative Capital.
The initiative involves several partners: The Egyptian Red Crescent will distribute 45,000 food boxes to vulnerable groups through its 27 branches nationwide, and the Fund for Supporting Projects of Civil Society Organizations and Institutions aims to distribute 40,000 boxes to 36,000 families in alternative housing projects in redeveloped areas, as well as to families of those injured or killed in Gaza.

Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, affirmed that the President's "Doors of Goodness" initiative underscores the Egyptian state's unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable families and placing them at the forefront of its priorities. She noted that, within the framework of this initiative and the Ministry's efforts in collaboration with the Long live Egypt Fund and partner NGOs, the Ministry aims to provide over 70 million hot meals and distribute more than 5.5 million food boxes during the holy month of Ramadan.
This will be achieved through several initiatives, most notably the presidential "Doors of Goodness" initiative implemented by the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Tahya Misr Fund, as well as the Ministry of Social Solidarity's restaurants and distribution points, "Al-Mahrousa" and "Ahl Al-Khair" (People of Goodness) across the country, in cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Endowments, NGOs, and other charitable organizations. The initiative also includes the National Alliance for Civil Development Work and the Egyptian Red Crescent's Ramadan humanitarian kitchen, which provides over one million hot meals to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, reaffirming Egypt's leading role in supporting its brothers and sisters.
Tamer Abdel Fattah, Executive Director of the Long Live Egypt Fund, stated that the presidential initiative "Abwab El Kheir" (Doors of Goodness) embodies a model of successful partnership between all stakeholders in community work—government, civil society, and the private sector—to provide continuous support to vulnerable families. He emphasized the role of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in supporting the Fund's efforts to care for these families.
