Unstable weather accompanied by rain hits Egypt Monday

CAIRO - 23 February 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts that Monday, the fifth day of the Holy month of Ramadan, will see a rapid period of unstable weather, accompanied by varying intensities of rain across northern Egypt, extending to Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, along with a drop in temperatures across most of the country.

 

Dr. Mohamed Ali Fahim, Head of the Climate Change Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture, issued an urgent weather alert regarding the coming hours, noting the onset of a wave of weather fluctuations that has already affected the northern coast and is expected to extend to inland areas.

 

Fahim explained that the rainy weather system has already begun to develop over the coastal regions and is moving towards the inland governorates as time passes.

 

He added that these rains will be accompanied by a noticeable increase in cold northerly winds, which will significantly increase the perceived temperature drop across most of the country.

 

The head of the Climate Information Center stressed the need for caution and adherence to all necessary precautions, both by citizens in their daily activities and by farmers to protect their crops from the effects of wind and sudden cold snaps.

 

He further emphasized the importance of monitoring real-time weather updates to avoid any dangers resulting from these fluctuations.

 

The weather forecast indicates a chance of moderate to heavy rain, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, in parts of the northern coast and the Nile Delta. There is also a chance of light to moderate rain in the evening in parts of Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, North and Central Sinai, and parts of Fayoum and Beni Suef. This rain may become heavy at times and accompanied by thunderstorms, with a probability of approximately 30 percent in some areas.
