NEW YORK – 19 February 2026: Egypt has underscored the need for the full implementation of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza, emphasizing that it must be applied in its entirety without selectivity.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed the necessity of avoiding annexation of the West Bank and recognizing the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, in line with Trump’s statements.

Abdelatty made the remarks during an interview with UN News on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting at the United Nations Security Council on Palestine.

“President Trump spoke about extremely important points, including the categorical rejection of Israel’s annexation of the West Bank,” Abdelatty said, according to a UN News transcription.

“If we are talking about this plan, it must be accepted in all its points, not by picking some points and ignoring others,” he added.

Trump’s 20-point plan, endorsed by the UN Security Council in November, includes provisions for deploying a multinational International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza and for the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

The plan also calls for the demilitarization of the enclave, the start of reconstruction, the dismantling of militant infrastructure, and the decommissioning of weapons held by non-state groups.

Under the plan’s second phase, a Palestinian technocratic committee was formed to manage daily affairs in Gaza under the supervision of the Board of Peace (BoP), a multinational body chaired by Trump.

While Israel and Hamas have committed to a ceasefire under Trump’s plan, Tel Aviv has continued near-daily violations in Gaza, killing hundreds since the plan took effect in October.

Israeli Violations

During the interview, Abdelatty highlighted the broad international consensus against Israeli violations in the West Bank and Gaza, warning that such practices pose a serious threat to the plan’s implementation and sustainability.

“Consensus is good, of course, but the most important thing is to prevent Israel from continuing these systematic violations, and to ensure this plan is applied to everyone and that violators are held accountable.”

He underscored the pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood outlined in Trump’s plan.
