CAIRO – 13 February 2026: Egypt’s Ministry of Interior announced on Friday that all inmates in correctional and rehabilitation centers will be granted two exceptional visits in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Ministry stated that the decision is part of ongoing efforts to uphold human values and strengthen the bonds between inmates and their families during significant religious occasions.

By providing opportunities for inmates to share the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month with their loved ones, the Ministry aims to offer psychological and social support. Such initiatives are viewed as vital to the rehabilitation process, facilitating a smoother eventual reintegration into society.

This measure reflects the modern penal policy adopted by the Egyptian state, which prioritizes human rights standards and a comprehensive correctional environment.

In addition to boosting inmate morale, these exceptional visits help maintain family stability. This aligns with the state’s broader development plan for correctional facilities, which focuses on upgrading services and care to meet international standards.
