ADDIS ABABA – 12 February 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty departed for Addis Ababa on Wednesday evening to lead Egypt’s delegation participating in the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) and the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the AU Heads of State and Government.

During the visit, Abdelatty is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his African counterparts and senior AU officials to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and coordination on various regional issues and crises.

The talks will also focus on advancing joint African action in support of sustainable development, the AU’s Agenda 2063, and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The foreign minister will also chair the ministerial meeting of the Peace and Security Council on developments in Sudan and Somalia, held under Egypt’s presidency of the council.

The participation aims to reflect Egypt’s steadfast commitment to supporting efforts to promote peace, security, and stability across the African continent.

It also aims to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, preserve national institutions, and advance collective African priorities in line with the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
