President Sisi welcomed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his accompanying delegation, expressing appreciation for the business communities in both nations and their role in strengthening economic ties over recent years. He noted that the timing of the forum signifies the growing strength of the partnership.

In his address, Sisi explained that economic relations between Egypt and Turkey are built on solid foundations, including economic integration, geographical and cultural proximity, and a shared political will. This synergy has led to unprecedented levels of cooperation.

He further noted that the current volume of trade exchange stands at approximately $9 billion, with a strategic goal to increase that figure to $15 billion or more. Currently, Egypt serves as Turkey’s primary trading partner in Africa. President Sisi also highlighted that Turkish investments in Egypt have surpassed $4 billion, reflecting mutual trust and the growing attractiveness of the Egyptian investment climate.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also emphasized the strength of bilateral economic relations and the vital role of the private sector in promoting trade. Erdoğan expressed his gratitude for the warm reception provided by the Egyptian authorities.

He noted that while bilateral trade has reached roughly $8 billion, Turkey remains a top destination for Egyptian commerce, ranking third for exports (with a 7.4% market share) and seventh for imports (at 3.4%). Erdoğan reiterated the shared objective of reaching $15 billion in trade, leveraging Egypt’s ongoing structural reforms and favorable investment environment.

The Turkish President pointed out that Turkish investments in Egypt, totaling approximately $4 billion, currently provide employment for nearly 100,000 Egyptian citizens.

Beyond economics, Erdoğan praised Egypt’s cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, emphasizing the importance of the Turkish-Egyptian partnership in the eventual reconstruction of the Strip.

Finally, Erdoğan affirmed that Egypt’s implementation of a visa-on-arrival system has successfully increased the number of Turkish trade delegations and tourists. He expressed hope for continued growth and noted that recent joint meetings underscored the need for ongoing support for the business communities in both countries.
