CAIRO – 19 January 2026: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received Ali Shaath, chairman of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, on Monday. Abdelatty congratulated Shaath on his appointment and wished him success in his new role.
Abdelatty expressed full support for the committee chairman and its members, noting the heavy responsibilities they face during this critical phase.

He emphasized the committee’s vital role in managing the daily affairs of Gaza Strip residents and meeting their basic needs. He noted these efforts are in preparation for the Palestinian Authority's return to full responsibility in the Gaza Strip.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the need to complete the necessary steps to implement the remaining requirements of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan, most importantly the formation and deployment of an international stabilization force, the continued provision of humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip, and paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction.
The Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of preserving the unity of Palestinian territory, ensuring geographical and administrative contiguity between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and achieving a comprehensive and just settlement to the Palestinian issue, affirming the complete rejection of any attempts to divide the Gaza Strip.
Shaath expressed deep appreciation to President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Egyptian government for their steadfast support of the Palestinian cause on both political and humanitarian levels.
