EMA forecasts drop in temperature in Egypt; Cairo records lows of 10°C

CAIRO - 19 January 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts a drop in temperatures across northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
 
The weather will be very cold in the early morning, becoming milder during the day and very cold at night across most of the country. Frost is expected on crops in Upper Egypt, central Sinai, and the Western Desert.
 
 
Dense Fog
 
Dense fog is also expected from 3:00 AM to 10:00 AM in areas from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, and central Sinai.
 
Low clouds may appear over parts of Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and the Suez Canal cities, potentially resulting in light, insignificant drizzle in some areas. There is also a chance of light rain in parts of the northern coast, northern Lower Egypt, and the Matrouh desert at intervals.
 
Wind Activity
 
Wind activity is expected in areas from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo and the Suez Canal cities, potentially stirring up sand and dust in areas of Salloum, Matrouh, and parts of the Western Desert at intervals.
