CAIRO -15 January 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has forecast the formation of dense fog in the early hours of Friday, January 16, 2026, warning that visibility may be significantly reduced on a number of roads.

According to the EMA, fog is expected to form between 2:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. across wide areas extending from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, as well as northern Upper Egypt and central Sinai.

In some locations, the fog may intensify to low-level fog, posing potential risks to motorists due to reduced horizontal visibility.

Cold conditions and frost Expected

The authority said that very cold weather is expected during the early morning hours, becoming mild during the daytime before turning very cold again at night across most parts of the country.

Frost is also expected to be formed on crops in northern Upper Egypt, central Sinai and the Western Desert, directing warnings to farmers to take necessary protective measures.

Cloud cover and light drizzle

Low clouds are expected to appear over parts of Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo and the Suez Canal cities, with a slight chance of light and insignificant drizzle in isolated areas.
