CAIRO – 14 January 2026: Mediators Egypt, Qatar and Turkey welcomed the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Gaza Strip in a statement Wednesday. The committee is headed by Dr. Ali Abdel Hamid Shaath.

The mediators described the move as a significant development that will strengthen efforts to consolidate stability and improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The mediators expressed hope that the committee's formation will pave the way for the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza Strip ceasefire agreement, according to the plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. They noted this would contribute to solidifying the truce and preventing a renewed escalation.

The mediators emphasized the necessity for all parties to fully implement the agreement to achieve lasting peace and create the conditions for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, fulfilling the Palestinian people's aspirations for security, stability and a dignified life.
