US forces board fifth oil tanker in effort to control Venezuelan oil

WASHINGTON – 9 January 2026: US forces boarded another oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea on Friday, as part of an American campaign targeting sanctioned tankers traveling to and from Venezuela.

The tanker, Olina, is the fifth seized by US forces since the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife in a stunning US operation early this month.
