CAIRO – 7 January 2026: Counselor Mohamed El-Homsany, the Cabinet spokesperson, affirmed that the presidential initiative "Decent Life" represents a genuine leap forward in improving living standards and providing essential services to rural Egyptian citizens.

He noted that the government is closely monitoring the completion of the first-phase projects and beginning preparations for subsequent phases.

During a phone interview on the DMC channel, El-Homsany explained that the first phase of the Decent Life project covered 20 governorates and included 1,477 villages distributed across 313 local units, benefiting approximately 20 million citizens.

El-Homsany indicated that more than 22,000 projects have been completed out of a total of 27,000 projects undertaken over the past four years. He emphasized that work is currently underway to complete the remaining 10% of projects in this phase as soon as possible.

El-Homsany said the projects aimed to provide essential services previously unavailable in the poorest villages, particularly in Upper Egypt, such as drinking water, sanitation and educational services.

El-Homsany highlighted the health sector in particular, noting the provision of top-tier hospitals and health units, thus sparing citizens the hardship of traveling to Cairo for high-quality medical care.

Regarding future steps, El-Homsany stated that the government is currently preparing to implement the second and third phases of the initiative, which aim to extend comprehensive development to approximately 40 million additional citizens in the remaining villages.

El-Homsany explained that the current focus is on completing all projects from the first phase, while simultaneously preparing the logistical and technical arrangements for the commencement of the second phase.
