CAIRO – 1 January 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Thursday inspected development works at the railway and metro car factory SEMAF, which belongs to the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).
Madbouly’s tour comes after SEMAF Factory for Railways Rolling Stock has successfully completed all development and modernization works.
The prime minister reviewed several of the factory’s departments and components.

Accompanying the prime minister, Chairman of SEMAF Ahmed Shaker stressed that the management did not overlook the human element, as engineers and technicians were trained through specialized programs both locally and abroad.
He added that while SEMAF was undergoing comprehensive development, production did not stop.
Instead, Shaker noted that the factory’s production capacity was even doubled at an accelerating pace and diverse products were delivered according to the predetermined timetable and in line with international quality standards.

The prime minister was briefed on the industrial communications system at the center, the remote-control system for the factory’s machines and the camera-based factory monitoring center system.
Madbouly’s tour also included an inspection of the laser cutting center, where he listened to an explanation on the center’s components, which include an 800-ton bending machine and a 300-ton bending machine for metal forming, in addition to a rudder drill.
While inspecting the laser center, the prime minister checked the displayed models and spoke with the engineers responsible for the factory about technical and engineering aspects of this industry, as well as the percentage of local components.

Madbouly then headed to the plasma cutting center, where he listened to an explanation on the center’s components, including welding and cutting robots operating with artificial intelligence, plasma cutting machines and a raw materials warehouse.
He observed a number of plasma cutting machines, such as bevel cutting and straight cutting machines, as well as an electric drill.
The prime minister also stopped at Machine 2 and Machine 3, which operate with synchronized cutting and flame cutting, before inspecting a vertical raw materials warehouse and viewing a robotic welding machine and a welding machine.

He visited the presentation areas and exhibition of various products, where he observed the platform of dump truck components, a metro bogie for Line 3, a model of a dump truck under finishing, another model of a power car, and a container housing an educational classroom.
Madbouly was also keen on inspecting the equipment of the classroom set up inside this container.
The prime minister and his delegation then proceeded to the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) center, where Engineer Ayman Abdel Aziz explained that the center includes a giant machine, the only one of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, for metal machining and forming.

The machine operates with full digital control using the latest global technology, in cooperation with an international company, and is one of only eight such machines worldwide.
The center also includes a multifunctional giant machining machine operating with laser technology.

He also inspected the freight car factory. Chairman of the AOI Mokhtar Abdel Latif noted that SEMAF factory has succeeded in completing and delivering 10 air-conditioned metro trains (a total of 80 cars) for Cairo’s Line 3, in cooperation with the Korean company Hyundai Rotem.
Additionally, 375 flat container-carrying wagons have been delivered under a contract to supply 1,000 various freight cars, alongside participation in international tenders in Uganda and Tunisia.

This is supported by the factory’s acquisition of the international quality certificate for railway industries, qualifying it for export abroad.
Meantime, the prime minister reviewed stages of manufacturing and installing box chassis joints, as well as the stages of manufacturing and assembling polyester chassis for dump trucks and then viewed a final model of this vehicle.
