CAIRO – 21 December 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said Egypt is keen to deepen economic cooperation with Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region as he received on Sunday Prime Minister of Kurdistan Masrour Barzani.
El-Sisi highlighted the capabilities of Egyptian companies, particularly in energy and infrastructure, and their experience at home and abroad, inviting the Kurdistan government to benefit from their ability to deliver projects to high standards at competitive costs.
Barzani, for his part, welcomed the role of Egyptian companies in Iraq.
He said he looks forward to working with Egyptian authorities during his visit to explore enhancing cooperation and benefit from Egyptian expertise in priority sectors for his government.
Egypt’s General Intelligence Service head Hassan Rashad attended the meeting, alongside Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed and Head of the Kurdistan Region Intelligence Service Mohsen Kamal.
