El-Sisi affirms support for Iraq in facing regional challenges in meeting with Kurdistan PM

CAIRO – 21 December 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full and continued support for Iraq in confronting regional challenges especially terrorism.

During talks on Sunday with Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani in Cairo, El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s support for the Iraqi unity and territorial integrity and praised security cooperation between Egypt and Iraq.

El-Sisi praised efforts by the Iraqi state and Kurdistan Regional Government authorities to promote stability and peace in the region.

Barzani, for his part, expressed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s appreciation for Egypt’s role, and that of El-Sisi, in supporting Iraq and helping restore peace and stability in the region.

Barzani added that Kurdistan looks forward to continuing to strengthen cooperative ties with Egyptian institutions.

Egypt’s General Intelligence Service head Hassan Rashad attended the meeting, alongside Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed and Head of the Kurdistan Region Intelligence Service Mohsen Kamal.
