CAIRO – 11 December 2025: The International Research Commercialization Expo (IRC Expo 2025) kicked off in the New Administrative Capital on Thursday, aimed at facilitating technology transfer, building partnerships, and stimulating innovation.

The expo brings together more than 200 international participants from over 80 countries, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour said.

Global participants include including government representatives, CEOs, universities, research institutions, investors, entrepreneurs and banking sector officials.

Ashour said the two-day event, running from Dec. 11–12, represents the first international platform in the Middle East dedicated to commercialising scientific research outcomes and linking them to investment and industry.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the IRC Expo during the General Assembly of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), acting on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The international presence at the expo includes about 35 pavilions featuring 26 universities and research centres and 106 start-ups across nine sectors.

Egypt’s national participation includes 39 exhibitors in the Egyptian pavilion, including 16 universities, eight research centres, 15 start-ups, along with seven exhibitors from at the National Research Centre pavilion and six pavilions from the Innovators Support Fund.

The expo is anticipated to see the signing of bilateral and multilateral agreements signed and the launch of joint initiatives in advanced technology fields.

Ashour said the event covers a range of strategic sectors, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology and health, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, agri-tech, cybersecurity, smart cities and microelectronics, among others.
