Thunderstorms, temperature drop hit Egyptian governorates; rain expected in Cairo

CAIRO - 10 December 2025: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) announced that the latest satellite images show that the governorates of Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, and northern Dakahlia are currently experiencing thunderstorms accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall at times.

Rain clouds are also expected to continue affecting other parts of the northern coast, the Nile Delta, northern Upper Egypt, and areas of central and northern Sinai.

Rainfall

The Authority confirmed that Greater Cairo is likely to see rainfall in the coming hours.

It added that Wednesday, December 10, will witness a continued drop in temperatures across most regions. Weather conditions will be cold in the early morning, mild during the day, and cold again at night in most areas. Wind activity in some regions will further increase the feeling of cold.

 

The Meteorological Authority released the following temperature forecasts for today:

High: 19°C
Low: 13°C

Alexandria
High: 19°C
Low: 12°C

Matrouh
High: 20°C
Low: 12°C

Sohag
High: 21°C
Low: 9°C

Qena
High: 22°C
Low: 9°C

Aswan
High: 23°C
Low: 11°C
