SINAI – 7 December 2025: Egypt’s Border Guard Forces have seized drugs and weapons worth more than LE 2.1 billion in Sinai as part of operations across various strategic directions nationwide, the military spokesman said in a statement on Sunday.
The forces uncovered a drug-processing plant and several storage sites in a mountainous area of Sinai after receiving intelligence that smugglers were using the location to manufacture and stockpile narcotics.
The raid led to the confiscation of 15 tonnes of hydro, 7.5 tonnes of hashish, six tonnes of hashish paste, two tonnes of hashish oil, 50 kg of hydro seeds and 4,000 hashish bricks, the spokesman noted.
The border guards also seized a pickup truck, an automatic rifle and ammunition.
The seized items were valued at around EGP 2.13 billion, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, the forces on the western strategic direction foiled attempts to smuggle quantities of weapons and ammunition, seizing 11 automatic rifles, 30 shotguns, one pistol, 33 magazines, four telescopic sights, 443 rounds, and 12,800 narcotic tablets, the spokesman noted.
On the southern strategic direction, the forces seized 11 vehicles, five automatic rifles, a sniper rifle, 11 magazines, 400 assorted rounds, and equipment used in random gold exploration.
All seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
These accomplishments form part of the Border Guard forces’ efforts around the clock to tighten security control over all border crossings and access points across the country’s strategic directions, the statement added.
