DOHA – 7 December 2025: Egypt reiterated its continued support for building Somali national capacities, particularly in counterterrorism, security, and institutional governance to enable the Somali state to assert its authority across the country.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Sunday on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.

The discussions covered ways to enhance bilateral relations and strategic partnership between Egypt and Somalia.

Abdelatty discussed arrangements for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

He underlined Egypt’s strategic commitment to fostering security and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region as a cornerstone for development and regional peace.

The two sides agreed to maintain close coordination and advance joint cooperation programs under the strategic partnership between the two nations.
