CAIRO – 7 December 2025: Egypt is heading deeper into winter conditions as temperatures continue to decline across most of the country, accompanied by strong winds and scattered rainfall, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said on Sunday.

Two weeks ahead of winter, the authority said cold early mornings and mild afternoons will prevail nationwide, with Greater Cairo expected to record a high of 20 degrees Celsius on Sunday and Monday.

Winds will remain active in several regions, increasing the overall feeling of cold.

Light rain is forecast on Monday over parts of the northwestern coast and northern Delta, strengthening to moderate intensity in some areas by evening.

Additional light showers are expected over South Sinai, the Gulf of Aqaba, Halayeb, Shalateen, Marsa Alam and parts of Upper Egypt, the EMA said.

South Sinai will also see periods of strong winds that may raise sand and dust, with similar conditions possible at times along the northern coast, the Delta and Greater Cairo.

Thunderclouds continue to affect Sharm El-Sheikh, bringing rainfall of varying intensity that may become briefly heavy, the authority added.

Temperatures through Friday are expected to remain steady with no sharp drops, except for northern Upper Egypt, where nights will be much colder:

- Greater Cairo: highs 20–21°C, lows 12–13°C

- Northern coast: highs 19–20°C, low 11°C

- Northern Upper Egypt: highs 20–22°C, lows 7–8°C

- Southern Upper Egypt: highs 22–23°C, lows 11–12°C

Rain chances are set to increase again on Tuesday, with showers of varying intensity likely across northern parts of the country, according to EMA.
