Egypt, Qatar chiefs of staff discuss boosting military cooperation

CAIRO – 6 December 2025: Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, met his Qatari counterpart, Lieutenant General Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, in Cairo during an official multi-day visit.

The talks covered a range of issues of mutual interest and explored ways to strengthen military cooperation across several fields, the Egyptian Armed Forces’ spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.

Khalifa expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the deep ties between the two militaries, stressing the importance of coordination and expanded cooperation to serve the shared interests of both countries.

Al Mannai stressed Qatar’s keenness to advance military relations and exchange expertise with Egypt in the military and security fields.

Both chiefs also co-chaired the closing session of the third meeting of the Egypt-Qatar Military Cooperation Committee.

They signed the session’s minutes outlining upcoming activities aimed at enhancing bilateral defence collaboration.

Senior military commanders from both sides attended the meeting.
