Egypt’s FM holds several meetings on sidelines of Doha Forum

CAIRO – 6 December 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a number of meetings with Egyptian Community in Qatar and Qatari officials on the sideline of his participation in the Doha Forum.

At the start of his visit to Qatar, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, met with members of the Egyptian community in Qatar on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the beginning of his current visit to participate in the Doha Forum.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the meeting comes within the framework of the Foreign Minister’s keenness to listen to the views and suggestions of the Egyptian community regarding improving the services provided to them and strengthening their ties to their homeland. 

The meeting included an interactive discussion with community members, addressing several issues related to their circumstances and needs. He added that Minister Abdelatty emphasized during the meeting the Ministry’s commitment to providing Egyptians abroad with the utmost care, noting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its missions abroad are committed to delivering accessible consular services and intensifying communication with Egyptian communities.

 Minister Abdelatty also expressed the state’s appreciation for the important role played by the Egyptian community in Qatar, describing them as shining examples for their country and key contributors to the national economy.

Minister Abdelatty reviewed the efforts undertaken by the Egyptian state to launch a wide range of initiatives aimed at serving Egyptians abroad, whether in housing, investment, education, remittances, or simplifying consular procedures. He stressed that all these initiatives aim to provide tangible support that meets their needs and strengthens their connection to their homeland.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Foreign Minister urged members of the Egyptian community abroad to continue their active participation in national events, emphasizing that the unity of Egyptians at home and abroad represents a fundamental pillar for supporting the state and advancing the development process.

Abdelatty meets with Qatari Ministers of Finance, Trade and Industry, and Transport

On Saturday, December 6, Dr. Badr Abdelatty met with Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Finance; Sheikh Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Trade and Industry; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of Transport, on the sidelines of his participation in the Doha Forum.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance the growing cooperation between Egypt and Qatar in the economic, trade, and service sectors. Minister Abdelatty emphasized the commitment to advancing the partnership with the State of Qatar in a manner that achieves mutual interests and expands opportunities for cooperation between the relevant entities in both countries.

The Foreign Minister also expressed his aspiration to build upon the existing momentum in relations between the two countries and to strengthen institutional communication between ministries and relevant bodies, contributing to advancing development and economic efforts in the two brotherly nations.

Foreign Minister meets with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in Doha

Seperately, Badr Abdelatty met with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelatty expressed, at the outset of the meeting, his appreciation for the momentum witnessed in Egyptian-Qatari relations across various levels, commending the bilateral cooperation in multiple fields that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

The spokesperson added that the meeting addressed developments on the ground in the Gaza Strip. Both officials stressed the importance of continuing efforts to implement the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement in full, solidify the ceasefire, and prevent any violations. They also underscored the need for the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, as well as the swift formation of the international stabilization force and enabling it to fulfill its mandate. They emphasized the importance of ensuring the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid and supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The spokesperson concluded by noting that Minister Abdelatty affirmed the commitment to continued close coordination with the State of Qatar on various regional issues, building on the expanding bilateral relations to serve the interests of both nations and support efforts to achieve regional security and stability.

Meeting with the President of the World Economic Forum

On Saturday, December 6, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met with Mr. Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.

Minister Abdelatty highlighted the importance of opening new avenues for cooperation between Egypt and the Forum through innovative initiatives and ideas to support development efforts. He also reviewed Egypt’s development and economic reform trajectory, noting the priority given to strengthening the private sector and its essential role in driving national development. He outlined ambitious measures taken by the Egyptian government to improve the investment climate, remove obstacles facing investors, and offer additional incentives.

The meeting also included discussions on regional developments, during which the Foreign Minister outlined Egypt’s position on regional crises and emphasized Egypt’s ongoing efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in the region.
