CAIRO – 30 November 2025: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Pakistani Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar discussed on Sunday a proposed joint action plan between the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones and the Pakistani Board of Investment, aimed at strengthening communication between the two countries’ business communities and opening new investment opportunities.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of reactivating the joint business council of the two countries, as well as the joint council between the Egyptian and Pakistani chambers of commerce, to bolster economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
He further expressed interest in facilitating trade and economic links between the Suez Canal Economic Zone and Pakistan's Gwadar Sea Port, and explored the potential for establishing value-added industries within the economic zone.
The Egyptian Minister highlighted Egypt’s keeness to expand cooperation with Pakistan in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, and to increase the volume of trade to reflect the significant potential of both countries.
He also reviewed the economic reforms implemented by the Egyptian government in recent years, including the monetary policy and the flexible exchange rate system, which have contributed to improving the economic performance, raising the credit rating, and enhancing the investment climate.
Regarding efforts of counter-terrorism, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's experience in combating terrorism, underlining its adoption of a comprehensive approach that combines security and development measures, addressing poverty and unemployment as the root causes of extremism, and fostering institutional coordination between various state agencies and Al-Azhar to dismantle extremist networks.
The meeting also tackled the regional developments in the Middle East. The Foreign Minister reviewed the situation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and proceeding with the second phase of the Trump peace plan. He stressed the need to empower the international stabilization force to fulfill its mandate and consolidate the ceasefire. He also discussed the ongoing preparations for the international conference on the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.
